Royals End on a Positive

The Royals entered their last weekend of the season with their heads held high and ready for battle. Saturday night was a fan appreciation night. We saw General Manager Sam McMullen say a few words at the start of the game thanking all Sponsors, Fans and families for their continued support throughout the season.

The Royals program presented their 17-year olds with a picture of them with all of their teammate’s signatures. This was a farewell for all 17-year olds. We wish them luck in their new adventures ahead.

Saturday did not go as planned as Okanogan played a strong game to win 2-0, loan bright spot was Connor Svienson in his last Midget game as a 17-year-old he stood on his head to keep the Royals in it, unfortunately he got no run support.

Sunday was a different story; the Royals came out strong and battled hard every shift against the Rockets. The Royals would score first with a goal from Michael Hoekstra, Assisted by Jovan Malay. Chase Klassen would add another one on the PP to make it 2-0 in the second. Assists go to Brandwood and Vela. The Rockets came back strong scoring a goal shortly after by Marchant. Going into the 3rd the Royals were up 2-1, but that didn’t last long. The Rockets scored in the first 16 seconds to tie the game up. Egan and Vela would get back to back goals to maintain the lead at 4-2. Rockets would get one more-late to push it to 4-3 but the Royals would hang on. Forman with another solid performance and the boys rallied behind each other to go out a winning team in 2019
